Ernest has lived in Coquitlam for more than a decade and is the father of four children. Growing up in an extended family with many teachers, he developed deep respect and appreciation for the education system and for the dedication of teachers and staff. He believes there is important work ahead to build safe, modern, and inclusive schools that elevate student achievement and help every child thrive.
Ernest volunteered as the Students’ Health and Safety Representative for the SD43 District Parent Advisory Council. With a professional background in healthcare, including mental health, he has been a strong advocate for student well‑being. Campus safety remains one of his key areas of focus.
Ernest is actively involved in the Coquitlam community. He has coached with the Coquitlam Metro‑Ford Soccer Club, and has sit on the board of the CPA (Chartered Professional Accountant) Tri‑Cities/Pitt Meadows Chapter. In recognition of his volunteer work supporting the community during the COVID‑19 pandemic, he received the 2021 Community Champion Award

1. Strengthening School Safety and Student Mental Health
- Increase school counsellors and mental‑health supports so students can receive timely help when facing stress, anxiety, or conflict.
- Expand before‑ and after‑school care options to support working families and provide children with safe, structured environments throughout the day.
- Strengthen partnerships with government, police, and community agencies to improve school lockdown procedures and take a firm stand against violence.
2. Securing Provincial funding for Coquitlam’s Growing Population
- Advocate for increased provincial funding to hire strong teachers and staff teams, including resources for special needs educations.
- Work with the Province and the City to build new schools include adequate playgrounds, green space, and shared community facilities.
3. Building Strong Partnerships with Families and Educators
- Promote active parent involvement as a key part of student success.
- Strengthen collaboration among teachers, staff, and families through transparent communication and shared decision‑making.
4. Expanding Opportunities Beyond the Classroom
- Support a wide range of extracurricular programs in sports, arts, and culture to help students discover their passions and build confidence.
- Ensure equitable access so all children—regardless of background—can participate fully.
